Baby Rooms
Our baby room is a bright, spacious, homely, warm environment and is situated at the far end of the nursery. There is a well-equipped changing/potty training room. The playroom is light and airy, and fitted with low level shelving, where babies can learn to stand, and toddlers are able to choose which toy they would like to explore. The babies enjoy fresh air; and have great fun exploring their outdoor environment, with their own access door to the outdoor areas. The younger babies and non-movers have a room dedicated to their needs. It is fitted with wooden flooring which helps with crawling; they have their own low-level chairs and quickly progress to the low chairs at the table for snacks, lunch and tea, thus developing their independence and social skills. We encourage self-motivation as a basis for learning within a stimulating environment, developing and building on children's curiosity, interest and fascination for the world around them. Sensory activities are offered daily and will help and support all areas of a child's development. E.g.:
Play dough
Gloop Treasure baskets that include a wide range of sights, smells, sound and textures so that the children can explore all their senses.
In the baby unit using the EYFS guidance we target the 3 prime areas of learning for the children's development and planning their next steps.

Tweenie Rooms
The tweenie room is situated near to the garden area, another bright, airy, spacious room for the children to explore, play and develop. This room has slightly more structured routines, and as the children settle and progress, they are given more independence, preparing them for preschool, as at this age children will begin to start potty training etc. The staff endeavor to work closely with parents to help crack the potty-training stage with their children. They have a large airy room and share changing/potty training room with the baby room or can use the preschool changing/toilet area, they have their own access to the outdoor space. The room is open planned with easy access to all facilities. This enables an area where children can develop and use their imaginations as they wish, this room is imaginatively resourced to encourage creativity or offer somewhere cosy to read a book. The other part is filled with small world toys, and a variety of equipment for them to explore. They can build and play along with access to different media for them to create their own masterpiece. The children move around with confidence and benefit from knowledgeable staff that support their development. All together this room covers all 7 areas of the EYFS and weekly/monthly/yearly planning is completed by the staff members according to every child's personal interests and development stages. Continual use and easy access to the garden allows every child to have fresh air and time for their ever-developing physical skills, as well as exploring. Colourful displays of children's work decorate the indoor rooms. Preschool Room
The Preschool room is situated near the entrance; this is a bright airy room, with defined areas of play, The role play area allows children to re-create scenes from home life and their own experiences. There is always a theme set up usually linking to our topic of the term, but a large selection of all different role play costumes are always available for the children to use their own imagination. There is also a book corner with a cosy sofa for the children to sit and read to themselves or share a book with friends or staff. This area can also be used for quiet time if children feel the need, we have added a soft play area that can combine with a sensory area using black out curtains. There is a creative area where children can access a wide variety of material and media to create their master pieces. It is fully equipped with items to develop their fine motor skills such as scissors, pencils etc. The children enjoy choosing pieces to go onto the art gallery wall which is just by the main entrance for all parents and visitors to see. Another area incorporates small world toys and a construction area. There is also a maths area and a separate literacy area, a circle time area where children enjoy jolly phonics, where they learn a small rhyme and actions to every sound of the alphabet. The garden is an extension to our indoor space and the children have easy access to this area and have the opportunity come rain, shine or even snow to explore their outdoor environment. We are in the process of re-vamping the ir outside area, but there will be a digging area, sensory walk, large climbing apparatus, and an area to use with larger toys. We will have an area for children to sit and read books surrounded by plants such as lavender, herbs and grasses. There will be a vegetable patch to encourage the children to develop their understanding of how plants need to be looked after and watered to help them grow and therefore produce food for us to eat. The nursery project is to help sustain the bee population and therefore any planting will take this into consideration, we have also introduced a Bug Hotel, which the children thoroughly enjoyed making and watching as the bugs started to make it their home.
